Charles has been the director of real estate since 2006 with his main focus directed towards the Crabtree Valley Mall based in Raleigh, NC. Over the past two decades, he has amassed one of the most diverse backgrounds in the Carolinas having leased or sold office space, warehouse, retail outparcels, undeveloped land, community centers, lifestyle centers, traditional malls and super-regional malls. In 2007, 2008 and 2010 Charles was a Triangle Business Journal Space Award winner. In 2009 he was named as one of the Triangle’s Commercial Real Estate Heavy Hitters.
Charles started at Plaza Associates in 1994 as a leasing agent in charge of over 18 neighborhood and community strip centers throughout the Southeast other responsibilities included the leasing and sale of multiple retail outparcels, site selection, and development of raw land and the construction of new shopping centers for private and third party ownership. In addition to his duties leasing strip centers, Charles operated the Specialty Leasing and Temporary Tenant Program for Crabtree Valley Mall from 2003 - 2006.
From 1991 to 1993, Charles operated as an independent contractor with C.J. Harris and Company, Inc., marketing financial consulting services and acting as an intermediary in mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures of small to middle market business. He managed a portfolio in excess of 2 million dollars and was the top listing agent for the company in 1991, 1992. His responsibilities included all phases of activity necessary to complete a successful acquisition or divestiture of a business including strategic planning, financial analysis, business valuation, employee evaluation, inventory and accounts receivable analysis, pricing, marketing, value negotiation, and execution of the sale.
Charles has a BSBA in Real Estate Finance from East Carolina University and an M.B.A. from Campbell University. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and has both his SCLS and SCSM designations. He is a NC Real Estate Broker and a member of the Triangle Commercial Association of Realtors (TCAR). He co-founded the Specialty Leasing Association of the Mid-Atlantic States (SLAMA) and served as its President in 2004.
Connie joined Plaza Associates Inc. in March of 2009. She is responsible for leasing and managing The Marketplace specialty retail program at Crabtree Valley Mall located in Raleigh, North Carolina as well as handling the permanent leasing of the companies strip center portfolio. In addition to properties owned by Plaza Associates, Inc., Connie handles the third property managed properties and various brokerage activities.
Connie has over 20 years of experience in all aspects of shopping center management including permanent and specialty leasing, property management and marketing. She began her career as a contracted employee handling multiple specialty leasing programs for multiple national shopping center developers for a variety of property types including regional malls, festival marketplaces, outlet malls and airports. From 2000 to 2007, she worked for Colonial Properties Trust where she managed strip centers followed by the permanent leasing of regional malls throughout the southeast. In 2007 she joined the leasing team at CBL & Associates Properties as a leasing manager adding to her experience with real estate investment trusts (REIT’s).
She earned a BSBA in Marketing from Central Michigan University and holds a Senior Certified Leasing Specialist designation (SCLS) from the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). Connie is a Real Estate Broker in North Carolina and is a member of ICSC.
Scott started with Plaza Associates in 2004 as General Manager of All Pro, an annex company of Plaza Associates, Inc., specializing in HVAC, refrigeration and general contracting. In the Summer of 2010, he was appointed as the Senior Property Manager for Plaza Associates, Inc., where he is responsible for the management of 14 commercial properties, including community strip centers, office buildings, warehouses and a gated community. His responsibilities include overseeing maintenance of assets, working with contractors, budgeting, and management of expenses. His construction experience has added value to the Leasing and Management Team as he oversees all construction projects at all facilities.
From 1984 to 1989, Scott served in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Athens Greece and Spokane Washington. From 1990 to 2000 based out of Hancock, Maine he worked in the Maritime trades, leaving it as a Master Captain. In 2000, he relocated to North Carolina where he took the position as a facility maintenance manager for a national car rental company before being hired by Plaza Associates in 2004.
Neil Rudolph has been the Executive Vice President of Plaza Associates, Inc. since 1995. He is responsible for the management and leasing of Crabtree Valley Mall, as well as eight other retail properties in North Carolina, Mississippi and West Virginia which exceed two million square feet with annual revenues in excess of $55 million and valued in excess of $800 million. A licensed real estate broker, Mr. Rudolph is the broker in charge for Plaza Associates, Inc.
Mr. Rudolph began his career as a Certified Public Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand before becoming Vice President and CFO with Western Development and Investment Corporation in Denver. He worked six years with Western, which owned and managed apartments in both Denver and Seattle. For the next nine years Mr. Rudolph was the licensed Real Estate Broker for Eaton Investment Company in Denver. As a partner he bought, sold, managed, leased and subdivided real estate in Denver, Vail and Eagle County, Colorado.
Just prior to his current position, Mr. Rudolph was the Financial Officer for the Pyramid Group in Albany and Syracuse, New York, which owned and managed 19 regional malls in New York and Massachusetts. During his five years with Pyramid, he helped develop, construct, pre lease and manage a 1,000,000 square foot mall in Middletown, New York.
Mr. Rudolph graduated from Regis University in Denver, Colorado. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). He has been Chairman of the Board for both the Women’s Center of Wake County and the International Affairs Council of Raleigh, as well as being a member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce. In addition, Mr. Rudolph was a member of the Blue Ribbon Committee of Wake County which outlined Wake County’s growth for the next 25 years.
Ellis joined Plaza Associates, Inc. in the spring of 2014. In this role he has primary responsibility for drafting, negotiating and managing the commercial lease portfolio for Crabtree Valley Mall, as well as Plaza’s other various commercial property holdings. He also provides a supervisory and support role for all of Plaza’s active litigation, which consists primarily of collections, creditor’s rights and personal injury defense. Ellis serves as corporate counsel for all of Plaza’s diversity corporate holdings and provides counsel on a variety of issues ranging from employment law, corporate formation and structure, collections, homeowners associations disputes and materialman’s liens.
Ellis graduated magna cum laude from NC State University with a Bachelors of Science in Economics. He then obtained his Juris Doctor from Campbell University’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law, where he graduated with honors and was an active participant in the moot court program and was admitted to the Order of the Barristers.
When not at the office, Ellis enjoys spending time with his wife, Sarah, traveling and supporting the NC State Wolfpack.
